Audra, Paul (1869-1948)
Out of the same studio beside the same Matisse and Rouault, he taught drawing in Valence and Nice and painted for the Salon d'Automne.

Vos, Paul de (1591-1678)
The animal painter of Baroque Antwerp, who supplied the King of Spain's hunting lodge. Works from his circle and tradition appear in our Flemish collection.

Cals, Adolphe Félix (1810-1880)
He stood at the Salon des Refusés in 1863 and in the first Impressionist exhibitions, beside Monet and Pissarro.

Renault, Charles Edmond (1829-1905)
Pupil of Camille Flers, Corot and Théodore Rousseau, he painted the rivers of the Paris region for half a century.
Forest, Eugène (1808-1891)
He painted haystacks in the open fields nine years before Monet.
Desvarreux-Larpenteur, James (1847-1937)
Trained in the studio of Émile van Marcke, he left Paris for California at thirty-eight, came back, and painted the same flowering heather country for forty-five years.
Peraire, Paul Emmanuel (1829-1893)
A dedicated painter of the French countryside, faithful to its farms, rivers and seasons.
Guignard, Alexandre Gaston (1848-1922)
He left the bar for painting, and gave his shepherd the exact centre of the composition.
Michel, Émile (1828-1909)
Painter of the École de Metz who left his city in 1872 after the annexation, and became France's great scholar of Rembrandt while never putting down the brush.
