About the Artist
Ricardo (Federico) Corchon y Diaque (1853-1925) was a Spanish painter who studied at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. He exhibited at the Universal Exposition in Paris in 1878 and at the Universal Exposition in Sydney in 1880. He worked in Italy, Spain, and France, and was known for Orientalist scenes and Belle Epoque images of social life. His subjects included outdoor gatherings, promenades, and portraits of women in domestic and social settings. His work has appeared at auction through Heritage Auctions, Artnet, and other international sale rooms.
