About Us

Sourcing original European paintings for collectors worldwide, since 2017, with French eyes.

GalerieClub Fine Art is an independent gallery based in France, specializing in authentic European paintings from the 16th to the 20th century. We source original oil paintings, watercolors, and drawings directly from private European collections, works that have remained largely outside the public market for generations. What follows is how we work, and what you can hold us to.

Why collectors trust us

Since 2017, more than 1,100 paintings have entered private collections through our gallery, in over 30 countries. We have been an established seller on eBay since April 2017, where we maintain a 100% positive feedback rating, a public, verifiable record of nearly a decade of trusted transactions with collectors worldwide. That record is open to anyone who wants to read it before buying.

How we describe a painting

The greatest risk in buying an antique painting is an attribution that will not survive scrutiny. We do not take it.

Where a work is not signed and documented, we catalogue it in the standard vocabulary of the trade and nothing stronger: Attributed to, Studio of, Circle of, Follower of, Manner of, After. Each of these describes a real and specific relationship to a named painter, and each is honest about what is known and what is not. We never present a circle or follower work as an autograph painting by a master. Where each term sits, and exactly what it claims, is set out in our guide to Reading Attribution.

We are equally direct about condition. A canvas of the 17th or 18th century has almost always been relined and carries old restorations. That is conservation history, not damage, and we say so rather than let a buyer discover it on arrival. Every listing describes the support, the frame and the state of the surface as we find them.

Our specialties

Our catalog spans four centuries of European artistic heritage: Old Masters of the French, Flemish, Dutch, Italian, German and Austrian schools, the Barbizon School, Academic painting, Impressionism, and Post-Impressionism. Each work is personally selected for its artistic merit, condition, and long-term value.

How we ship

Every painting is professionally packed and shipped via UPS from France to the United States and Canada, with secure tracked delivery. Packing is done by hand, painting by painting, and each work is measured and prepared at the moment of dispatch.

Personal guidance

Every question is answered in writing, by email, and answered properly. Ask for more photographs, a detail of the signature, a close view of the surface under raking light, or our reading of an attribution, and you will get them, along with what we do not know. A written exchange also leaves you a record of exactly what was said about a painting before you bought it, which a phone call does not.

Whether you are starting your first collection or adding to an established one, we are glad to advise on an acquisition, and to say when a painting is not right for you. We would rather sell you one picture you keep than three you regret.

Our guarantee

Every painting is guaranteed to be an original work of the period stated, not a reproduction, and to correspond to the description and photographs on its listing. If a painting arrives and it does not, you may return it within 14 days for a full refund. Full terms are set out in our shipping and returns policy.
