About this collection

The Italian School is the tradition of painting from the Italian peninsula, from the drama of the Baroque through the eighteenth century, built on the foundations of the Renaissance and the great masters of Rome, Venice and Bologna.

Our Italian School works span the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, religious and mythological subjects alongside Old Master period copies, original antique oils, many of them framed. To place these works in their context, read our guide to Italian Baroque.
