Pierre Forest
1881 to 1971
Pierre Forest was born in Nice in 1881 and painted the coasts of the south of France, flowers and still lifes, and later the skies over Paris in pastel. Between the wars he showed in the Paris galleries of the boulevard Haussmann and the rue La Boétie, and at the Salon des Indépendants from 1931 to 1943.

Born on the Mediterranean, he made his career in the Paris galleries between the wars and ended his life in the capital.
He is born here on 21 November 1881. The city gives him a retrospective in 1981, ten years after his death.
He shows at the Galerie Terrise in 1923, at the Galerie Reitlinger from 1924 to 1929, and at the Salon des Indépendants from 1931 to 1943. He dies here in 1971.

Stories about Forest
Not the caricaturist.
Eugène Forest, born in 1808, drew for La Caricature and died in 1891. Pierre Forest is a different painter, born ten years before that death. Paintings signed simply Forest belong to one or the other by period and manner.
