Habsburg & Austrian Imperial Portraits

About this collection

Habsburg portraits are the likenesses of the emperors, officers and ladies of the Austrian imperial house, painted for the court and its households from the eighteenth century to the Biedermeier years.

The portraits presented here form a cabinet series of small-format Habsburg court paintings, emperors in uniform, officers in white coats and ladies in Empire dress, most of them on canvases of near identical size, made to be kept close in a study or a private cabinet.
