Woman Musician with a Peacock, Original Oil on Canvas by Ramon Dilley, Signed and Dated 1996

A woman stands full length on a path beside water, playing two long golden pipes held one in each hand. Her hair is deep blue and falls past her shoulders. A garland of small pink flowers hangs from her neck to below her knees, and her legs are painted the same deep blue as the trees.

Two slender trunks rise on either side of her, blue against dark green canopies. Behind, a river runs across the picture in grey blue strokes broken by warm reflections, with a line of low trees and a pale sky above. At the right, two clusters of pink hydrangea sit close to the ground. At the left, the spread tail of a peacock fills the lower corner, its eyes marked in blue and dark green.

The colour is laid on flat and saturated throughout, the drawing simplified and the forms outlined rather than modelled. Signed and dated at the lower centre, the canvas is also signed and titled on the reverse.

The frame is part of the work. It is hand painted in bright green with a foliage pattern in gold and sienna running across all four sides, and it brings the framed dimensions to 38 by 22 inches. The painting is in good condition and the frame shows very small gaps.
