Signed lower left, titled and signed on the reverse. 15 x 18 inches (38 x 46 cm), the frame 20 ½ x 23 ½ inches (52 x 59.5 cm). Whitewashed scroll frame. Unlined, an old restoration in the foliage at upper right.

A baby sits up in a deep blue pram in the middle of the path. A young woman in pink stands just behind it with a dark-haired figure beyond her, and around them the whole group shares one patch of shade.

At the left a couple sit on a green slatted bench, a third face half lost in the shadow behind them, and two children are busy at their feet in the corner. At the right a woman in a white blouse and a small hat leans toward a young man on a pale garden chair, while a little boy in shorts stands with his back to us, facing them. The trees close over everyone in short dabs of green, yellow and violet, and each face is set down with a quick touch of red for the mouth.
