Two centuries on, the image was still being copied. On the back of this small copy someone pasted a handwritten page, a passage signed Mrs Jameson that calls Arundel the first virtuoso of his time, followed by a note on the Arundel marbles. When Burgundy passed to the Habsburgs by marriage the order passed with it, and after the Spanish branch of the family died out in 1700 it split in two, one order in Madrid and one in Vienna.
